Finance Director/Managing Director

Key Tasks & Responsibilities: Finance:

  • Establish, develop and accurately maintain processes/ledgers for and records of all financial transactions (sales, purchase, cash book and journal transactions)
  • Record, report and present timely, accurate and compliant financial performance information for both management and statutory requirements including monthly management accounts, monthly reports, annual statutory accounts, financial KPI’s and VAT in a timely, accurate and consistent manner
  • Communicate, present and provide business information to the Board, attending management, Committee and Board meetings as required
  • Ensure all controls and suspense accounts are reconciled, documented and signed off in a planned and timely manner in accordance with the agreed timetable
  • Ensure appropriate checks and balances are in place to mitigate the risk of error and fraud.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all fixed assets
  • Carry out budgeting, financial planning, forecasting and performance analysis
  • Ensure the monthly processing and payment of payroll in accordance with all tax authorities’ requirements
  • Continually monitor financial systems and processes to identify improvements or efficiencies as part of a continuous improvement plan.
  • Maintain a rolling 3-month operational and pre-funding FX cashflow forecasts
  • Interface externally with banks, auditors, accountants, other professional advisors and regulatory bodies
  • Interface internally with investor entities to ensure smooth operational funding of the business
  • Prepare and control the annual budgeting and forecasting process
  • Consolidate and evaluate budgets in conjunction with financial strategy, co-ordinating and supporting all budget-holders and managers in delivering budgets and forecasts as required
  • Manage the Finance team, ensuring that all finance employees are effectively managed, developed and motivated; provide leadership, direction, motivation, clear objectives and meaningful feedback
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with other Department Heads, ensuring the provision to them of a positive and professional service that enables the progression of the overall business strategy
  • Liaise with external auditors on audit planning, current accounting requirements and audit issues as required
  • Manage financial quality and assurance controls and compliance
  • Ensure all financial activities and reporting are in compliance with financial regulations
  • Be prepared to travel overseas extensively in this group role as business needs dictate

    Managing Director:

  • Lead the Swedish company and ensure all employees buy into the Group vision.
  • Set the overall strategic direction of the company in line with Group strategic direction and board requirements.
  • Plan and implement long term business strategies to achieve the company’s objectives.
  • Devise a 5-year plan and work with other board members to oversee its implementation.
  • Meet with the Group Chairman and Board on a regular basis to review the company’s financial performance.
  • Interview for senior positions within the organisation
  • Work closely with the Group Marketing/Sales Director on sales strategy and approach to winning new business.
  • Carry out regular SWOT analyses to mitigate any potential risks through industry and market changes.
  • Implement new processes and procedures across the business and look for opportunities to increase efficiencies and speed up existing processes
  • Adopt group-wide KPI’s to gauge company performance in all areas.
  • Submit for agreement company budgets and forecasts
  • Report results to the Board and Group Leadership Team on a weekly basis or as otherwise required.
  • Analyse opportunities for growth in market segments to drive profitability.

    Experience Required:

    • Minimum of 10+ years’ relevant financial services (payments industry)/FinTech/FX experience is essential
    • Self-starter, who can work in a start-up environment
    • Can work under challenging circumstances and copes well under pressure
    • Accounts preparation, budget process management and forecasting experience
    • Previous line management experience within a finance function essential
    • Strong stakeholder & leadership management experience
    • Significant and demonstrable practical experience of problem resolution experience
    • Able to work professionally with and influence effectively other stakeholders and external agencies
    • Practical experience of recruitment and selection processes
    • Recognized UK professional accountancy qualification
    • Degree-level education
    • Proven track record of successfully managing similar sized organisations.
    • Target driven and results focused individual.
    • Natural leader and motivator of people.
    • Relevant industry experience and knowledge of the target market
